Colleagues,

Some quick chapter news updates. We had a great meeting last month. Nationally known speaker and security consultant Bill Alford from the International Lighthouse Group provided us with a great session on managing the media in crisis situations. It was a very informative presentation with lots of valuable take aways. In keeping with our chapter’s goals to continually provide educational value whenever we can, this month we are able to offer another professional development session. Our fellow chapter member, Ted Curtain, CPP will be presenting on Utilization of Technology in the Security Field.

This month’s meeting will be a luncheon at Big Y Corporate Offices on Wednesday, October 12th. The meeting will start at 11:30am. The cost of the meeting will be $15.00 per person to cover the catering expenses.

Coming up for the rest of the year, on Wednesday, November 16th, Jerry Hayes co-chair of “Rebuild Springfield” and Bob Hassett of Springfield’s Office of Emergency Preparedness will give us some great insights of the effects on resources and people regarding the response and recovery of the challenges faced as a result of the tornado damaged suffered this past June. Ray Muise of Mass Mutual will host this meeting.

December 14th we will have our annual Holiday Social and the swearing in of new Chapter officers.

Our new and improved website should be up and running very soon and I will send a quick note to all when it is ready so you can check it out and give me your feedback.

Hi Folks, Hope this communication finds everyone well as we enjoy this beautiful summer. As our summer hiatus comes to an end I wanted to update everyone on what we have planned for the rest of this year. First, as you know we have been having some difficulties with keeping the information on our web site current and of value to our members. I am happy to announce that Jeff Lerman of Cold Spring Design is redesigning our web site and we should be back up and running with a much improved and useful site soon. I’ll be sure to let everyone know when we debut the site. Let’s talk about the remaining schedule of meetings for this year. We have a value packed program to finish out this session. On September 7^th, we have scheduled nationally known speaker and security consultant Bill Alford from the International Lighthouse Group. Bill has long been involved with the security and loss prevention disciplines in the US and recently has been asked to speak and advise in both Mexico and China. Bill will be speaking to “Managing the Media in a Crisis Situation”. This presentation will qualify for CE credits for anyone holding certifications. On Wednesday, October 12^th, our fellow Western Mass ASIS member Ted Curtain, CPP of Repworks will present on utilizing technology in the security field. On Wednesday November 16^th, Jerry Hayes, Vice President of Administration & Finance at Westfield State University and current co-chair of the “Rebuild Springfield “ advisory committee will speak on disaster response and recovery and the challenges faced as a result of the Tornado damages suffered in June. Meeting times and locations will be communicated in a follow up e-mail as we confirm our host and speakers. On Wednesday, December 14^th we will hold our annual Holiday Social at which time our new chapter officers will be sworn in. Position descriptions follow on the next page. Our Chapter Board Member elections will be held at our October 12^th meeting. The ballot thus far is as follows: Elected Officer Positions:
